Keynote Presentations
Overview of Andra's R&D Program: Is R&D Still Needed Once the Construction License Application Has Been Submitted?
Coupled Processes in Fractured Rock for Deep Geothermal Energy and Less Deep Geological Repositories

Optional Technical Site Visits
Andra will host two (2) optional field trips for participants to join on Thursday, November 16th, 2023 after the symposium concludes.
Field Trip A - Visit the nearby Meuse/Haute-Marne Underground Research Laboratory (URL) in Bure, which enables scientific and technological research for deep geological disposal in the Callovo-Oxfordian clay in a >2,000 m network of tunnels. Participants may also visit the nearby Environmental Specimen Bank (Ecothèque) and the Technological Exhibition Facility (ETe).
Field Trip B - This trip includes a visit to two nearby surface facilities for radioactive waste. With a footprint of 95 hectares, the CSA Waste Disposal Facility is licensed for the disposal of 1 million cubic meters of low- and intermediate-level, short-lived waste packages. A few kilometers away is the Cires Waste Collection, Storage, and Disposal Facility, which opened in 2003 for the disposal of very low-level radioactive waste.
Attendees will be able to sign up for either field trip option at registration for an additional fee which covers the cost of transportation and meals (breakfast and lunch). Space is limited for each field trip and will be available to registrants on a first-come, first-serve basis.
